Jack Gourlay, founder and owner of South East Sounds, is a gold and platinum record certified songwriter, producer and mixing engineer. Jack began his career as an artist and was signed to Warner Music & Sony/ATV Publishing.
During this time, he worked with producers such as Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse/Sia) and Crispin Hunt (Florence and The Machine/Lana Del Ray) and supported artists including Bruce Springsteen and Paolo Nutini on international tours.
Subsequently, he set up his own studio in Hackney, North London where he worked with artists co-writing, producing and mixing over 150 releases, often aided by world class session musicians who tour for artists such as Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi and Tom Grennan. Since setting up his studio, Jack has written songs with artists including Jess Glynne, Tom Odell and Jack Garratt and scored a number 2 hit single with German singer Michael Patrick Kelly. In 2019 Jack signed a publishing deal with the publishing arm of legendary dance label Kontor Records, Hamburg. This has led to collaborations with dance acts such as Fedde Le Grand, Bunt & Calvo.
Jack regularly works with unsigned and up and coming artists, helping them find and develop their sound and producing records that will get them noticed. When working in this capacity, Jack enjoys wearing all the hats: co-writing the songs and taking on the production and mixing through to completion.

In this initial session, my primary goal is to gain a deep understanding of your personal and artistic identity, assess your current position in your music career, and explore your aspirations. Together, we'll agree on a plan to achieve your creative goals. We will also establish a realistic timeline and budget for your project.
Step 2
Production - In-Studio or Virtual Sessions
During this phase, we'll bring your musical ideas to life by refining and enhancing them, meticulously examining every detail together. Whether we're working face-to-face in the studio or connecting through Zoom, this process is a complete collaboration. Your ideas and input are at the forefront, ensuring the final result is a true reflection of "your sound." If you've already produced your own music, we'll evaluate, mix, and polish your existing creations to maximise their potential.
Step 3
Delivery
At the conclusion of our creative journey, you'll receive a mix of the finalised tracks. This is your opportunity to ensure you're 100% content with the results. Any final tweaks will be made, resulting in release-ready recordings that are ready for distribution. Your musical vision will be fully realised and ready to share with your audience.
